The IPR2 eNews provides an update for stakeholders on activities and results, publications and up-and-coming events. The issue for December 2010 is now available to download. IPR2 undertook a number of activities in December 2010. This included a training, seminar, workshops and study tour – covering IP management, criminal IPR enforcement, design registration and trademark quality. In addition, the publication of a comparative analysis of the Patent Examination Guidelines in 2006 and 2010. Preparations and consultations also continue for a Work Plan for the fourth and final year of Project implementation in 2011. Patent Examination Guidelines: A comparative analysis 2006 and 2010 Print

IPR2 has published a comparative analysis of the State Intellectual Property Office's Patent Examination Guidelines, which were updated following the revision of the Patent Law in 2009. It presents the provisions of the updated Guidelines for 2010 in English and Chinese and gives a comparative review of changes from 2006. EU and China hold third High Level Economic and Trade Dialogue Print

20-21 December 2010, Beijing

 

The EU and China held their third High Level Economic and Trade Dialogue (HED), on how the EU and China can address challenges and create opportunities through open economies and cooperation. The HED is a forum for strategic discussion and covered a broad range of economic and trade issues including the international economy and ways forward for the Chinese and European economies; competition issues; trade and investment; customs cooperation; innovation including intellectual property rights and technology.

EU-China training on IP management Print

29 November - 3 December 2010, Quanzhou and Nanchang

 

IPR2 co-operated with the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) to implement a further two training sessions on the management of intellectual property for officials from local departments responsible for addressing the needs of industry, including IP support services. Some 200 representatives of local Productivity Promotion Centres (PPCs) and industry were trained on the use of tools to help develop IP management strategies, specifically to build SMEs’ capacity to understand how to legally use, valorise and protect IPRs.

EU-China study tour on criminal IPR protection and enforcement Print

5-15 December 2010, UK, France and Czech Republic

 

Under IPR2, a delegation of IP-crime prosecutors from the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP) and local procuratorates travelled to Europe to share experience and best practice on criminal enforcement of intellectual property rights.  It forms part of supporting an exchange of information between Chinese and European prosecutors on best practices of criminal enforcement and increasing the capacity of Chinese prosecutors in handling IPR cases.

EU-China seminar on trademark quality Print

9 December 2010, Beijing

IPR2, together with the State Administration of Industry and Commerce (SAIC) and the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market (OHIM), held a seminar for officials from the Trademark Office of SAIC (CTMO) on trademark quality, including the regrouping of trademark examiners. The seminar benefited from the joint contributions from SAIC and OHIM on the respective Chinese and European procedures and also included a short intervention from industry.
