4 June 2008, Vienna

The European Patent Office has updated its free step-by-step search guides for Chinese patent databases on its Virtual Helpdesk for China. The Virtual Helpdesk provides support to make patent information from China more easily accessible and understandable. It provides answers to the most frequently asked questions on patents and patent information in East Asia, including China, background information on filing trends and granting procedures and some guidance on common patent terminology of Chinese patents. See Searching in databases - China and FAQs China.

Partnership in Action

“The most effective solution to effective IPR protection is the legal enforcement that mutual cooperation between the EU and China can and should provide. We need a shared sense of the damage [done] not just to European companies but to any company, and any economy, including China’s.”

Mr. Peter Mandelson, (former) EU Commissioner for Trade, 26 November 2007 Beijing
